It is actually very well done and almost certainly the work of a US soldier with long hours of bored to kill in the trenches

Army M4 Carbine bayonet fighting knife with original M8 scabbard. Nicely marked U. S. M4 UTICA on underside of hand guard. Very good condition clean sharp blade with about 40% of the original finish. The blade has been cleaned and sharpened, but not enough to effect the shape of the blade. It is VERY sharp on the lower edge at present. The Grip, guard and pommel are all tight to the blade. Leather
