Instituted 18 January 1810 by King Friedrich Wilhelm III. (1851 1918 issue). Constructed of silver, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse consisting of a central inscription of VERDIENST UM DEN STAAT (SERVICE TO THE STATE), within a laurel leaf wreath joined together at the bottom by ribbon, the reverse with a monogram of King Friedrich Wilhelm III, unmarked, measuring 39.
