probably never issued

however is a "figure of eight" design unlike the "saddle bag" design of the MG 15

Beautifully made, almost certainly, for at an Officer's request, this pistol has an octagonal 8" smooth bore barrel fitted with a swivel captured ramrod, allowing re loading whilst on horseback.
