This is a service worn, possibly "battlefield pick up" condition example of a totally original WWI German M16 Helmet shell, which retains none of its original paint on the interior or exterior. The stamped, sheet steel construction helmet shows pitting and rust on the exterior, with an almost total loss of the original finish. We could just barely make out the makers stamp, Q66, indicating that Quist in Esslingen,
